Stainless steel is one of the most popular materials for use in bearing design, and modern stainless steels are renowned for their hard-wearing durability and improved anti-corrosive characteristics.  From popular metric bearings to skate bearings, stainless steel is often the material of choice. We offer stainless steel bearings in different grades. Stainless steel miniature ball bearings are available from as small as 0.6mm bore. Most of the range of thin section bearings are also available in 440 grade stainless steel. The larger "popular metric" stainless steel ball bearings are from 10mm bore up to 40mm bore; these are often used in the food industry, in medical equipment or for high-temperature applications. Need a special stainless steel bearing in the UK? We can also supply 316 grade stainless steel bearings in many sizes, but these may need to be made to order.

Applications of stainless steel ball bearings include:

Bakery Bearings
Our bearings can be supplied with very high-temperature perfluorinated grease to give maintenance-free performance in temperatures of up to 300C. Special loose bearings can be offered for very high-temperature environments.

Corrosion-resistant Bearings
Our corrosion-resistant bearings can be used in marine environments or with aggressive chemicals. We stock most of our range in 440 grade stainless steel. We can also supply some sizes in 316 grade stainless steel. We stock a range of plastic bearings with balls made out of glass or 316 stainless steel. Both 316 stainless and plastic bearings are only suitable for low load/low speed use. We keep a stock of water/chemical-resistant lubricants which can be applied to any of our corrosion-resistant bearings.

Food Machinery Bearings
The larger "popular metric" stainless steel bearings are often used in the food industry for their resilience in high-temperature applications. Our stainless steel food-grade bearings with approved food greases can be used as food industry bearings, for example food conveyor bearings.
